چکیده

In clinical emergencies it is often necessary to rapidly determine blood CO2 content, so that the patient may be promptly treated. The Harleco Co. has introduced an apparatus to determine CO2 content of plasma and serum, based on principles of the classical Van Slyke volumetric method (1). We have used this apparatus to directly determine total CO2 in whole blood, and compared results to those obtained by another commonly used laboratory method. The Harleco method can be performed by individuals with minimal Syringe n = 45 r = .861 y = 8.92 + 0.91x Pipet n = 25 r = .917 y = 7.56 + 1.Olx CLIN. CHEM. 19/9, 1075-1076 (1973)

Evaluation of the Harleco Micro CO2 system for measurement of total CO2 in serum or plasma.

In the Harleco Micro CO2 System a volumetric procedure is used to measure total CO2 content in a small volume (0.10 ml) of serum or plasma. CO2 gas is released by mixing specimen and acid, either manually or with a "Micro CO2 Shaker." Within-batch CV's by manual and machine shakings were, respectively, 7.7 and 5.6% for a total CO2 value of 8 mmol/liter, decreasing to 2.0 and 1.4% for a value of...

Energy Consumption in Economic Sectors and Environmental Pollution in Iran with Emphasis on Electricity and Non-Electricity

In this study, an attempt is made to investigate the effect of energy consumption on environmental pollution in Iran. For this purpose, a basic model (the whole economy) and three sectoral models (household, commercial and public; industry and transportation) has been estimated with an autoregressive distributed lag approach in the period 1971-2017. The results of the model estimation show the ...

Effect of Methanol and Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles on Phytochemical Properties of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.)

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: In recent years, studies have focused on the use of new compounds that can be synthesized inside the plant and increase the photosynthetic efficiency of the plant. Some of these compounds include micronutrients and alcohols. Alcohols such as methanol as a carbon source will increase photosynthetic efficiency and improve plant growth parameters. Tit...

End-tidal Carbon Dioxide Measurements in Unintentional Non-Fire-Related Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Background: Poisoning with carbon monoxide occurs occasionally worldwide, and the gold diagnostic standard is to measure carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood. This study investigated the correlation between carboxyhemoglobin and the end-tidal carbon dioxide levels in 50 patients with carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods: We recruited 50 volunteer patients who had been admitted to the Emergency S...

Economic and Environmental Factors Determining the Amount of Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the MENA Countries

Abstract: The gradual warming of the earth and its negative environmental and economic impacts contributed to pay attention to sustainable development considerably. Since climate change is a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, countries are seeking to prevent the rapid growth of emissions to reduce global climate change. Accordingly, and considering the importance of the sub...
